The Quill Room is a private, one-on-one social-emotional coaching experience where children are guided to better understand themselves, navigate their emotions, and build the confidence to grow through life’s challenges.

In this personalized space, each child learns how to pause, reflect, and recognize the difference between their character (their feelings) and their author (their choices). Through storytelling, conversation, and creative expression, students are empowered to “hold the quill” and take ownership of their thoughts, actions, and personal growth.

Using the QUILL Method: Quiet the character, Understand the feelings, I write my own story, Learn from the moment, Live as the author, each session supports children in developing self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, empathy, and confidence.

Every session is tailored to the child’s needs, creating a safe and supportive environment where they can be honest, feel seen, and grow at their own pace.

Go Where YOU Grow!™

The Go Where YOU Grow!™ 5-Week Residency is an author-led Social Emotional Learning and literacy experience designed for elementary students.

Author Liza May Read coaches students using her book, Go Where YOU Grow!, as the foundation of the residency, guiding them through interactive storytelling, discussion, and creative reflection.

Through the program, students explore essential life skills such as:

• Emotional awareness

• Resilience and perseverance

• Empathy and relationships

• Patience and personal growth

• Gratitude and self-confidence

Using the Go Where YOU Grow! book series, students learn to recognize the difference between their character (feelings and reactions) and their author (their ability to make thoughtful choices).

Each participating student receives:

• A copy of Go Where YOU Grow!

• An Author Book for journaling and reflection

• Classroom SEL tools, including the QUILL Method™

• Weekly recaps sent to teachers and caregivers

This residency strengthens literacy while building emotional intelligence that positively impacts the entire school community.

By the end of the program, students do not just learn stories—they learn how to author their own growth.

The Author Mentality Project™ (Grades 6–12)

The Author Mentality Project™ is a customized Social Emotional Learning and creative expression program designed for middle and high school students.

Students explore identity, self-awareness, and personal responsibility through writing forms that reflect youth voice and culture, including:

• Poetry

• Spoken word

• Personal narratives

• Letters to self

Throughout the program, students learn to shift from a victim mentality to an author mentality, understanding that while they cannot control every circumstance, they can choose how they write their next chapter.

The program culminates in the creation of a published student anthology, customized for each school. Every participant becomes a published author, receiving a professionally printed book showcasing their collective work.
